Matthias dropped out of university after a few semesters of business informatics. However, without a degree, he couldn’t get the jobs he wanted in the IT sector. After taking on several short-term jobs, he turned to the education and career counselling service. Through the post-qualification programme to become an IT specialist for system integration, Matthias was given long-term career prospects.

Anna (39): Successful work on self-presentation
When Anna came to Germany with her children, she had completed a three-year nursing training programme in Georgia after the ninth grade and barely spoke any German. She turned to the advice centre for help in finding a suitable language course. A counsellor not only helped Anna find a language course, but also supported her over the next few months as she qualified as a nursing assistant and ultimately succeeded in the job application process.

Mascha (35): Developing prospects in Germany
Mascha has a bachelor’s degree in teaching from Russia but has not yet worked in her profession. She came to Germany with her two children and started a language course, which she was initially unable to complete for family reasons. The advice centre helped her find a place and financial support for a new language course, as well as career prospects as a nursery school teacher.

Anne (27): Overcoming exam anxiety and graduating as a retail Sales Assistant
Anne was unable to complete her vocational training as a retail saleswoman due to severe exam anxiety and dropped out in her second year of training. Without a qualification, she gained work experience in her field through part-time jobs. Anne visited the counselling centre to find out how she could catch up on her vocational qualification despite her exam nerves. There, she learned that she met the requirements for a modular post-qualification programme.

Joana has been working as a cook for many years without a professional qualification. Faced with the risk of losing her job, she is seeking a professional environment with better working conditions, where she can also develop her talent for guiding others. Joana decides to retrain as a chef, with the prospect of later qualifying as a trainer.
