Nikos (38): From a Recognised Professional Qualification to Further Career Development
Nikos (38) came to the education and career counselling with the aim of having his Greek professional qualification recognised and improving his career prospects in Germany. Together, the most suitable pathway was developed and implemented step by step. Just a few weeks after submitting his application, his professional qualification was fully recognised. Since May 2026, he has been attending a B1 German course and is preparing his next career steps together with the education and career counselling.
Professional Experience from Two Countries
Nikos (38) was born in Greece and has been living in Germany for ten years. After completing his qualification with a focus on electronics in Greece, he gained many years of professional experience in security and surveillance technology as well as in the repair of electrical appliances. In Germany, he also worked for more than five years in the field of building and energy technology.
In January 2026, Nikos contacted the education and career counselling. His aim was to have his professional qualification recognised and to make his qualifications visible to employers.
Finding the Right Path Together
At the beginning of the guidance process, his previous professional experience and supporting documentation were reviewed together. Both recognition in the field of equipment and systems and supplementary training in the field of energy and building technology were considered. It became clear that having his Greek professional qualification recognised was the right pathway for achieving his career goals.
From January to May 2026, Nikos was supported throughout this process. Together, the required documents were compiled, the application for recognition was prepared, and funding for both the recognition procedure and a German course was arranged.
Professional Qualification Recognised, Language Skills Developed
Just a few weeks after submitting his application, Nikos received the news that his Greek professional qualification had been fully recognised. In May 2026, he also began a B1 German course. His next goal is to further improve his German language skills and, together with the education and career counselling, plan suitable further training opportunities.
